I'd Like Some Thoughts On This One...

I had a thought today, and it's one of those things that I think is original, but it could be something that is everyday stuff for everyone except me.

Just as George Carlin used to have a list of oxymorons (postal service, jumbo shrimp, military intelligence, etc.). I think I came up with one today:

Incomplete sentence

Now think about this. A sentence is defined as a unit that contains a subject and a predicate. If a thought does not have these elements, it is not a sentence, but a phrase. So isn't the phrase incomplete sentence self defeating? Since a sentence by nature cannot be incomplete (since if it does not have a subject and a predicate, it is not a sentence), it would seem that the phrase "incomplete sentence" is nonsensical. Thoughts?

Ely, Minnesota

Now we know what all the fuss is about. This week, the five of us traveled into "The Arrowhead" of Minnesota and spent four nights at a cabin on the lake in the woods. We played with the kids, sat by the lake, played with the kids, sat by the lake, slept, went to town, and did the whole thing over again. I really felt a great opportunity to connect with my wife and kids, and we saw some gorgeous and quiet scenery.

We drove to Ely via the North Shore of Lake Superior, which also warrants a vacation. As I sit here today, I am hardly "ready" to go back to work, but I am rejuvenated and happy to have had such a wonderful time.

The highlights? Well, I had to jump off the dock to fish Jack out of the water when he fell in the lake. Then, Jack proceeded to frolic in his altogether for a while -there are no photos of that to be found here :-)

We took a great hike to a waterfall (photo below), saw some awesome scenery, and enjoyed our cabin.

We found a great little coffee house that we visited three times for "elevensies".

We had campfires, canoed, and looked for critters. We saw wolf pups at the Wolf Center, and we had excellent pie by Lake Superior.

I got to hold and cuddle Wesley a lot, who couldn't have been happier at the cabin.

In a word, it was great. Just what we needed, and we hope we can do it again. I feel so happy that we finally got to see a large part of our adopted home state.

Oh, and did I mention the pie by Lake Superior?
